The rain was pattering softly against the windowpane as Mark sat on his couch. He opened the real estate website and typed in the address. The old house appeared, looking neat and well-maintained. He felt his eyelids getting heavier.

He’d always loved that house. He spent many happy hours there. He felt his shoulders sag, and the tension in his neck begin to fade. The familiar layout of the rooms, the way the sunlight hit the living room in the afternoon.

A slow smile spread across his face as he examined the photos. He imagined the new owners, whoever they might be. What would they do with the place? He took a deep, steady breath, the thought bringing a sense of warmth to his chest.
